Why HEARTREAVE

A turn-based hack’n’slash, in co-op.

HEARTREAVE is a turn-based hack’n’slash for 1 to 4 players, where every fight is played with your heroes’ skills — and your heroes never start over.

  1. A hack’n’slash

Explore, win, loot, grow stronger, push further: it’s the hack’n’slash loop. Every exploration brings experience, gold, relics and Hearts, and the difficulty rises with your party, with no ceiling. Beyond level 100, the Great Journeys extend the hunt against enemies empowered by affixes. And as soon as your heroes reach level 8, the sea opens its islands and their Island Hearts to you.

  2. Skills that evolve

Each hero has 20 skills, and each one evolves along a tree of nine versions: 1,980 versions in all. Fights are turn-based, in the initiative order of the units. You choose which skills to bring, which version of each, and how your heroes’ powers chain together.

  3. In co-op, up to four

Solo, you lead up to four heroes. Online, each player leads one or more heroes of the same party. It’s the synergies between heroes that make the difference.

  4. Not a roguelike

No run to restart from scratch here: your heroes keep their level, skills, talents, relics and Hearts from one exploration to the next. A defeat resets nothing — except in Hardcore, where a fallen party ends the run for good.

The big references

Between Diablo and Slay the Spire

Love the builds and loot of Diablo, and the deckbuilding of Slay the Spire? HEARTREAVE brings the two together, turn-based, up to four in co-op — and you never start over.

If you like Diablo

What they share: constant power growth, loot, builds assembled piece by piece, and a difficulty that keeps climbing as long as your party holds.

What sets them apart: in HEARTREAVE, fights are turn-based, one skill after another, not in real time. You win through preparation and combos rather than reflexes.

If you like Slay the Spire

What they share: turn-based fights, and a deck of skills where every choice matters.

What sets them apart: in HEARTREAVE, nothing starts over — your heroes and their skills grow from one exploration to the next — and you lead a party of one to four heroes, solo or in online co-op.
